Cricket Fixtures Underway
The girls’ cricket season got underway this week, with a block fixture against Hazelwood School. The U11A’s had a well-matched game, they bowled well and started to pick out the gaps when in bat. A little more communication in the field and taking the opportunities for extras are targets next time; the team were unlucky to lose out by 3 runs, but a super effort all-round. The U11B’s have worked hard over the past week on their bowling and plenty of dot balls were on the scorecard, driving the ball to take those runs is in order going forward.
On Tuesday, the U8 girls travelled to Copthorne for an afternoon of cricket based skills and mini-game activities. It was a great opportunity to work together and learn more about the game. They will play their first match in a couple of weeks time.
The U9’s finished off the week with a double win for Caterham, the bowling from the A’s was very consistent and the girl’s secured a handful of boundaries- a super start! The B’s took advantage of the bonus ball, bowled by the coach, to allow some runs off the bat. Both teams are in the early stages of learning the game and had a thoroughly enjoyable time.
Next week, we welcome Russell House for some U11/10 combined matches.
