Cricket Fixtures Underway
It was fantastic to finally get the boys’ cricket season underway amid some very inclement weather. The U8 boys played some fine cricket in their first ever competitive matches. The line and length which the boys bowled was particularly satisfying. The A team narrowly lost to Reigate with the B team recording a great win. The U9s also faced Reigate St Mary’s in two very competitive fixtures with the A team just falling short of their target but the B team recording a convincing victory.
The Colts boys also got their season underway beneath blue skies with the sun shining up at Hill Fields on Wednesday. The A team had a cracking game scoring 105 runs in their 20 overs with Charlie A cruelly falling for 49 after a fine knock. He was ably assisted by George C with 18 who also had a great game with the ball. It was a fine all-round bowling performance with Lockie C impressing on his debut. In the end, Caterham won by 35 after dismissing RSM in the 19th over.
The B team were less disciplined in their approach and need to work on their concentration and calling between the wickets as they lost despite a decent bowling performance. The C team did play very well, anchored by a great all-round performance by Max, winning convincingly. The D team played well and should really have won their game, but a few careless runouts cost the team in the end.
It has been a very positive start to the season, and we hope the weather holds for next week’s fixtures.
