Global Questions for First Geography Bee
On Monday, in assembly, sixteen pupils from Year 3 to Year 6 took part in our first Geography Bee. The topics included: flags, country outlines, tourist attractions, famous landmarks, map symbols, capital cities, general geographical facts about the countries, mountain ranges, volcanoes, earthquakes and more. The first round was a practice round to calm any nerves and then after that, the pupils went head to head with a variety of questions. An exciting competition saw Rafa, Year 3, and Mia, Year 6 reach the final two with Mia taking the overall win. A massive congratulations must go to Rafa who stayed in the bee right until the end, even though he is only in Year 3.
Isabella Year 3 said “I felt excited to get through to the final round, but it was a bit scary competing against Year 6. Next year I would like to do this again, but I would learn some more landmarks”
Rafa “I was excited to get through to the final round. I never expected to come second as I am in Year 3 and thought I might come fourth or fifth. At the end it was me against a Year 6 pupil and I felt more nervous. Over the summer holidays I will be looking at map symbols and what they mean.”
