Junior Green Voices Focus on Clean Air
Our Junior Green Voices met up this week to discuss their views about all things environmental at Caterham Prep. Our focus this term is clean air and ensuring that we have clean air to breathe as much as possible. We are working with a company called SAMHE to monitor the air quality in our classrooms. The children learnt all about this in an assembly last week, where they also looked at factors that can pollute the air. We have been sent a device that measures the air quality in our classrooms. Each class will get a turn to use the device to measure the quality of the air in the classroom. The Junior Green reps will encourage their classes to do some experiments such as measuring the air quality when no windows are open and then again when some windows are open. They are also going to get a class plant and will investigate if this affects the air quality. The children have various activities to do on an app related to the device and the Eco-Warriors in Year 6 have also been working on these various activities as part of the Eco-Warrior group.
