A Wonderful Week of Netball
The U8s started the week with the highly anticipated House Netball competition. Everyone has been working really hard to remember positions over the past few sessions, so it was great to see the players trying out different roles. The games were tight with only one goal difference separating the teams but it was Viewpoint who took the first House victory.
On Tuesday, the U11A and U10A ventured up to the senior courts to play against the U12 teams. The girls relished the opportunity to play the older pupils and test their shooting in the 10ft posts! There was a fantastic display of netball by both prep teams – movement off the ball was fluid, strong passes and tactical circle work highlighted the efforts made by all over the past few weeks. Results to be proud of:
U11A v U12A Lost 5-8
U11A v U12B Drew 3-3
U10A v U12C Won 1-0
U10A v U12D Won 3-1
U10A v U12E Won 4-0
U10A v U12F Won 2-0
The future is looking good for the Net Kitty Cats – well done everyone!
The U11As played away at Micklefield on Wednesday afternoon, it was a tight, competitive game from the start which is reflected in the final score 10-10. U11Bs made some lovely interceptions and demonstrated great tracking of their players, but couldn’t convert in the shooting circle.
The U10A v Micklefield was a hard fought battle throughout. Micklefield started strongly with numerous turnovers and Caterham were down 1-5 after the first quarter. Some sharp shooting in the second quarter by Eugenia H pulled the team back into contention, with Caterham winning the quarter. Caterham dug in and contested every ball, it was end to end with goal opportunities for both teams, Caterham won the third quarter on goals scored, but Micklefield retained the lead into the final quarter 10-11. A good test for this squad, the final quarter was drawn, but Micklefield took the overall win by one goal. Well done team. Unfortunately, Micklefield were unable to field B and C squads this week, so the girls had great fun playing an internal game.
In the final games of the week, the U9s hosted Russell House for 5 a side games. The As had numerous turnovers and patience on the ball but couldn’t quite convert all their chances, losing out 3-8. The Bs had an even matched game, with their set focus to jump for the ball. The team tried really hard to work together but narrowly lost out by one goal. A strong start for the Cs with Tasanee S, Kiera L and Evangelina S linking beautifully to set up several goal opportunities, the team were up 10-1 at half time. A switch in positions gave others the chance to shoot and Caterham took another four goals. Super defensive work held Russell House to a single goal. A well deserved win for the team. The Ds match was an end-to-end affair with POM, Nyah P, working tirelessly in the centre role. Lottie C (GK) used her height advantage and Riley H (GD) was patient with her passes, the team never gave up as the ball was constantly turned over. Darcie M and Zoe M worked together in the circle, scoring twice, to take a well deserved win.
Well done everyone. Next week, House matches for Years 4-6.
