Year 2 Search for Clues in Big Bat Hunt!

It was with great excitement that Year 2 went on a ‘Big Bat Hunt’. They all grabbed a magnifying glass and went to look for evidence that bats had been hiding in the bark and crevices of our local trees! The children enjoyed exploring and learning that the biggest bat is called the Giant Golden-Crowned Flying Fox and that the smallest bat is called the Bumblebee Bat. The children were interested to find out that when bats live in a large group it is called a colony and that the place where bats live is called a roost. In addition, we discovered that bats don’t all live in caves. Some bats find shelter in trees, buildings, in birds’ nests, under leaves and even inside carnivorous pitcher plants.
