Ancient Aboriginal Art Inspiration
Year 2 have been exploring more texture work in their recent art lessons and have been looking at Aboriginal art. They created their own dot paintings to represent Australian animals using a combination of watercolour washes for the backgrounds and thicker readymix paint to produce the hundreds of dots, accentuating the shapes of the creatures. This was followed up by introducing symbols used on ancient Aboriginal maps which the children discussed and identified on a modern version before colouring their own.
2P have created an amazing dot painting display in the Pre-Prep Hall and 2C have displayed their previous texture work inspired by Van Gogh and J M W Turner.
