Cricket Across the Week
It has been an exceptionally busy week on the cricket field after last week’s wash outs.
The U8 boys started the week brightly with a win and a draw with Aberdour, the boys are getting to grips with match play now and are a lot more confident at the wicket. The U8 girls enjoyed matches against Hawthorns fielding three teams in some well fought matches.
On Wednesday, the U11 and U10 boys entertained Aberdour up at Hillfields. The A team put in a remarkable display limiting Aberdour to 80 runs in their 20 overs then knocking off the total with three overs to spare. Charlie A produced another fine knock of 32 not out ably supported by Samuel P. It was a great all round disciplined bowling display from the boys with wickets shared amongst the team. Special mention to the Year 5 boys who bowled superbly. The B team enjoyed their first hard ball game and gained valuable experience in a narrow loss. The C team batted well but need to work on their line and length with their bowling to get them over the line in matches. The D team battled well and ended up with a well-deserved draw continuing their good form this season.
The Year 5 girls A team were outstanding in a fine win over Hawthorns, with Ella D the pick of the bowlers the B team narrowly lost but fortunes were reversed in the U11 with the A team just losing and the B team victorious.
The U9 boys played an exceptional Aberdour team on Thursday and despite a good bowling display the Aberdour batters really took charge in a convincing win. The B team though continued to improve and enjoyed a narrow win.
The U9 girls continued their amazing form with the A team recording a well-deserved win over Hawthorns with Ella W and Johanna C producing outstanding performances with both bat and ball. The B team produced some of their best cricket this season in their close game with Hawthorns.
