Fantastic Netball Fixtures with Hawthorns
This week, we had our first block fixture of Netball with Hawthorns. It was great to see 50 U8s filling the courts, playing the 4 a side flier format. The aim of the day was to move into space, think about the best pass and have fun. Lots of goals were scored across the courts and it bodes well for the next game. The U9s travelled away for their Stinger 5 a side matches and quickly got to grips with the positional rotations. The As persevered throughout the match and took the lead during the third quarter, eventually taking the win 6-3. The Bs dominated their match, demonstrating super passing and moving and converting most of their goal opportunities, taking the win 11-1. With a player short in the C team, the Hawthorns substitute helped us out each quarter, in what was an end to end affair. Both teams improved over the course of the afternoon to mark their opponents, and with a late goal in the fourth quarter by Caterham, it wasn’t quite enough with Hawthorns taking the win 3-1.
It was a busy afternoon on Wednesday, with the U10s hosting Hawthorns for four matches. All the games were close in score lines, with the added jeopardy of positional rotations, all teams passed well and found space, with defence a focus moving forwards. The As lost out 4-7, the Bs drew 5-5, the Cs lost 2-5 and the Ds drew 1-1. The U11s travelled to Hawthorns and demonstrated super teamwork, the As remained calm on the ball and took the win 7-3. A tougher match for the Bs, but encouraging challenges for the ball, they just need to maintain a strong defense, losing out 5-11. The Cs played a round robin and worked hard to keep up with the play, with some super interceptions, they won one and lost one match.
Next week, is the first of two block fixtures against RSM. Don’t forget, shooting practice takes place Tues-Fri mornings and breaktime balls are available.
