Girls Football is Flying!

Girls Football is Flying!

With glorious sunshine on Tuesday, the U8 girls football teams had a fantastic afternoon of matches, with goals a plenty across all pitches.  The A team got off to a flying start scoring from the whistle and followed up with a second, with less than a minute on the clock.  A great all-round performance, passing and moving well, taking advantage of quick kick-ins and not to mention a 9-1 victory.  The Bs played really well as a team, working hard to maintain their positional roles and some super runs into space to create many goal opportunities.  Caterham settled into the match and dominated the attacking play and broke the barrier with a superb cross into goal by Lila P for Lucy W to find the back of the net. A further two goals followed to take the match 3-0.  The C match was a very even affair, remaining scoreless for the majority of the match until tired legs got the better of the Caterham team who, without any subs, conceded a flurry of goals from their fresher opponents. Nonetheless, a super afternoon for everyone, roll on House matches.

All of Year 5 took part in a mixed ability festival on Wednesday afternoon at Reigate St Mary’s, it was a super opportunity for everyone to experience playing a round of matches with different team mates and a nice way to round off the season.  The U9s, with a somewhat depleted squad hosted Aberdour on Thursday afternoon.  The A team played some fantastic football and had the lion’s share of the possession, unfortunately they just couldn’t find the back of the net.  The Bs played with great determination, linking passes and had more confidence to run with the ball.  They took the win 4-0 and without any subs, everyone gave 110%!

The first round of House matches has started with a flurry of goals, we will have to wait and see who comes out on top next week!
