Girls’ Hockey Fixtures in Full Swing
The prep girls’ hockey season is in full swing with fixtures against Hawthorns and Reigate St Mary’s over the last two weeks. The U8s experienced their first ever ‘fixture’ with a trip away to Hawthorns, followed by hosting Reigate St Mary’s at home earlier this week. The girls were mixed into teams and played a series of mini matches in a round robin format, there were goals a plenty across the pitches- a great time had by all. The U9s also played round robin matches and had the opportunity to try out different positions around the pitch and worked on clearing the ball hard and wide. Again, Caterham capitalised on the breakaways, and goals were scored by every team. The senior teams have experienced mixed results over the last two weeks, however the U11s in particular, have worked hard on switching the play and wide balls. The As had the majority of possession in both games and despite an opening goal against RSM, they couldn’t convert further chances. The Bs demonstrated super teamwork and after RSM equalised, Caterham stole the show with a further goal to take the win.
Next week, the Year 5 and 6 teams combine to face Lingfield and Russell House, with the U9A heading to a mini tournament.
