Global Learning Gives Deeper Understanding of The Last Bear
In Year Four we have been reading The Last Bear by Hannah Gold. The children have absolutely loved the book, which follows the story of a young girl, April, living on a remote Arctic island with her father. The wonderful storyline about April’s connection with an orphaned polar bear cub brilliantly links with our current Global topic, Climate Change. Our studies in Global have really given us a deeper understanding and appreciation of her situation in this important part of the world. In one of our lessons we explored April’s decision to attempt to save the bear using the hot seating technique and asking inquisitive questions with very well executed answers.
