Impressive Public Speaking Skills on Show

It’s been a fantastic half term of debating at Prep Debating Society.  The 28 members of Years 5 and 6 who attend are proving to be effective debaters and have showcased their excellent public speaking skills.  We have been working on how to analyse motions, present points and evidence, speak persuasively and think on our feet.  We ended this half term with the motion:  This House would abolish all zoos.  Teams researched and presented speeches on a tight timescale.  Their grasp of the key issues and ability to find data to support their arguments was impressive.  Next half-term we will be focusing on current affairs and fake news as we move towards the hotly anticipated Year 5 v Year 6 competition.
