Natural World and Blue Planet Co-Curricular Club
This week members of the Natural World and Blue Planet Co-Curricular Club began their project looking into African and Savannah animals in earnest. The members chose which animals they most wanted to cast in plaster of Paris. We learned about the chemical reaction which hardens the plaster, helped mix the paste until smooth, carefully poured into the selected mould and then tapped to release bubbles and settle the quickly hardening liquid. As soon as the surface had begun to solidify, we carefully mounted a magnet onto what will be the back of our casts.
Next week we will carefully turn them out and begin bringing our African Savannah to life by painting and decorating.
