Reception Learn About People Who Help Us
Reception have been learning about People Who Help Us. We have had some amazing visits from a variety of people. We started with a visit from the police who told us all about their amazing vehicles and all of the different jobs they have to do. We got to try on hats, high vis jackets and even got to hold a pair of handcuffs. Next up was a visit from a doctor who talked to us about how to stay healthy and then showed us her really cool doctor’s bag. We had our ears and eyes checked, listened to our hearts using a stethoscope and even used bandages. We were shown an oxygen reader and a blood pressure monitor, wow! Following this, we had a dentist visit. He told us how to keep our teeth healthy and we learnt all about check ups and brushing our teeth. We learned how many teeth we have and even talked about them falling out. We drew bugs and dirt on pictures of teeth and then used our two minute timers to brush them away.
We then met a vet who told us how to care for and look after pets and animals. She showed us some photos of poorly animals and then talked about how she made them better. We got to see some equipment like a surgery gown, mask, gloves, breathing tubes and animal collars. We then had a visit from our school nurse who talked about what she does when children are unwell at school. Our final visitor was the fire brigade. They told us about fighting fires, staying safe at home and we even got to see their fire engine! We have learnt so much and want to say a massive thank you to all of our visitors for being so fantastic!
