Silver Medals for U9 Netballers at Local Tournament
With the netball season on the horizon, it was fantastic for a group of U9s to test their skills in the Aberdour tournament on Thursday afternoon. With six games ahead of them, the team got off to a flying start with a 2-0 victory over Cumnor House, this was followed by a 2-1 win over Aberdour ‘B.’ What was going to be the toughest game of the afternoon against Aberdour ‘A’ the opposition made a swift start scoring in a matter of seconds and followed up shortly afterwards with another goal. Caterham started to find space and had plenty of opportunities and finally clawed back a goal in the closing seconds. A three- game break followed, which gave the team a chance to re-set and work on some tighter marking. Next up, was Micklefield who took the lead, but Caterham fought back to close the game with a 1-1 draw, the girls were straight back on court against Banstead and despite dominating the play, no goals were converted, another draw for the team. The final match against Chinthurst ‘A’ was an end-to-end affair, with Chinthurst taking the lead, Caterham scored on the whistle to take another 1-1 draw. A fabulous afternoon of netball and a great introduction to the season. Well done everyone: Mya B, Eva W, Anaya P, Bethany S, Quinn F and Elena J.
