Teams Compete at Geography Junior Globetrotting Quiz 2025

On Friday 21 March, it was with great excitement and anticipation, that 16 pupils headed over to the Wilberforce Hall for an afternoon of geographical quizzing with 12 teams from local prep and primary schools. Caterham fielded three teams of Year 4 and 5 children, all raring to go!

Mrs Wallace and Mr Terrell from the senior school geography department, welcomed everyone and built up the atmosphere with their Welsh dragon mascot, called Barry, centre stage

During the eight rounds of extremely tricky questions, children tried to identify global landmarks, borders, outlines of countries and flags-Mozambique was a triumph for some! When asked what their favourite round was, the children all agreed that it was the, “play-dough round!” Each team had pots of different coloured play-dough with which to make a volcano! There were some very artistic models, including Vesuvius and some of its victims! A set of books was the prize for the winning team! A mid quiz pit stop saw Caterham’s legendary cookies top up energy levels to power through the remainder of the quiz with lots of questions to test our revision. Our Prep teams collaborated brilliantly and were a credit to the school with two of our teams placing joint third in the final standings. Well done! Congratulations to Oakhyrst Grange, who were the worthy winners this year.
