U11 Cricketers take on the U12 Senior team
On Saturday 11 June, our U11 girls played a friendly cricket match against the senior school U12 team.
Winning the toss, the U12s elected to field and opened the innings with Zoya J bowling with a decent pace. The U11s responded well, running sensibly between the wickets and capitalising on the extras. Each pair batted well and despite two super wickets bowled by Zoya and Ann, the U11s put 88 on the board for a good chase. The U12s started well taking several singles, but some consistent bowling from Cora O and Ishani P limited the opening pair to 10 runs and one wicket off 24 balls. The next four overs bowled by Amelia H, Ella, Mary and Beth resulted in a further three wickets, the U11s were on fire!
Shri B and Romilly L stepped up to bowl the next four overs; a maiden over by Romilly and a further catch by Ishani P off Shri’s bowl, once again limited the runs to 17. The final pair of U12s, Zoya and Ann, stepped into bat; once again, facing excellent bowling from Ella, Amelia and Ishani, they pulled the U12s up to 53runs, but it wasn’t quite enough, the match went in favour of the U11s.
A great morning of cricket was enjoyed by all. Thanks also to our guest umpire Mr Luck, who stepped in to help out and offered some great coaching tips throughout the match.
