U9 Girls Hockey Play Local Tournament
Yesterday the U9A hockey squad travelled to Hawthorns School to play their first ever hockey tournament. The girls started strongly against Hawthorns holding a good defensive line and had several break away attacks – the game finished in a 0-0 draw.
Next up, St Teresa’s, a good all round performance, the girls started to link passes together and had a number of shots on goal but St Teresa’s defended tirelessly and we couldn’t find the back of the net. Caterham were once again held to a 0-0 draw!
Desperate to score, the girls were fired up in attack and the goals kept coming, a 3-0 win against Micklefield. Downsend had notched up a handful of goals in their previous match, so the girls were keen to keep them at bay. The opposition started strong and had two goals disallowed for shooting outside of the D, Caterham were unlucky with their shots hitting the post and another narrowly drifting wide, again another 0-0 scoreline.
In the final game, the girls were running out of steam and two quick goals from Reigate was a stretch too far.
A great afternoon all round- well done to everyone who played.
