Writing Hall of Fame
In English lessons in Year 5 and 6, we focus on developing the ability to use a variety of sentence structures, building up from a simple sentence and learning how to add or embed a range of phrases and subordinate clauses. Part of this includes learning how to use the full range of the punctuation toolkit, in order to construct complex sentences. This is an important part of being able to choose a style and level of formality that matches the purpose and audience of a piece of writing. We call this developing writing as a craft. We start this at the beginning of Year 5 and it is a continued focus into Year 6. The writing that Year 6 have produced this term is impressive and a pleasure to read! They have chosen their favourite pieces of creative writing to publish in our ‘Writing Hall of Fame’.
