Year 2 String Concert
On Tuesday the Year 2 pupils gave a demonstration to their parents in the Soderberg Hall. They have been learning to play either the viola or the violin this term and after just a term of lessons, performed two pieces.
The concert started with ‘Jig’ which was plucked, first by the violins, then by the violas. Next the children played ‘Manhattan Blues’ together with the bows. No nerves were on display as the children performed with such confidence and the sound they made was very good.
As part of the performance the children sang two songs, ‘Mirror’ and ‘Animals live in the Forest’ which they clearly enjoyed. The concert then concluded with two Sixth Form pupils performing on the violin and cello, giving the pupils and parents a real insight into where dedicated practice can lead.
Congratulations to all the Year 2 pupils on a super demonstration and we look forward to some of them continuing their tuition in small groups next term. Many thanks also to Mr Bayley for his hard work teaching the children and making the lessons so much fun.
