Year 6 Visit to the Science Museum
Year 6 went to the Science Museum today and were treated to an awe-inspiring experience at the WONDERLAB. From pulley systems to hoist yourself up on, to a chemistry demo that left you speechless, we were all amazed by the wonder of science. All came away with an appreciation for the exploration of the natural and physical world that scientists have undertaken and continue to investigate. It is now the turn of the next generation of scientists and today’s trip provided lots of inspiration for our young people to take on the challenge.
Antarctica 3D provided the most immersive experience showcasing the beauty of the Southern Ocean and all the life that a seemingly remote continent possesses. Did you know that the Southern Ocean surrounding Antarctica takes in twice as much carbon dioxide than all of the Amazon rain forest. This is due to microscopic marine life known as phytoplankton that sequester (take in) carbon dioxide during photosynthesis. WOW! And whales are important in providing the fertiliser for that.
Look after the natural world and it will look after us. Take a trip to the Science Museum if you are able this Christmas break to learn more!
